A Tale of Two Kates

New Kantar Media analysis shows Kate Middleton is the new princess of popular culture putting her namesake and long-established celebrity Katie Price in the shade.

28 April 2011 - According to Kantar Media, a leading provider of media research and insights, celebrity press coverage has seen a major shift in 2011.  Kate Middleton now has far more press coverage than Katie Price.

Brian Merron, Director, Kantar Media, commented: "Whilst Katie Price is still one of the most talked about celebs in the UK press, she has been well and truly eclipsed by the meteoric rise of Kate Middleton."

Between 2005 and 2010, it was only in 2007 when Prince William and Kate Middleton split up temporarily that Katie Price had less press coverage than Ms Middleton.  Katie Price had a massive spike in press coverage in 2009 and 2010 following her separation and divorce from Peter Andre and marriage to Alex Reid.  Although Ms Price separated from Reid in early 2011 her press coverage has been eclipsed by the increase in interest in Kate Middleton.
